Autumn breaks in Scotland, a great way to end the year

Article by Tim Green

Autumn is perhaps one of the most beautiful times of the year, as well as one of the most atmospheric; whilst nature lays on a display of explosive and vivid colour an undercurrent of expectancy prevails; a resigned anticipation of the oncoming winter season. This though, may be one of the very reasons why autumn breaks are so popular; they are the perfect final treat at the end of the year and a great way to fortify oneself to see the winter through with a stout heart and a cheery spirit. With this in mind, one?s choice of autumn break location is all important; but without doubt, if delighting the senses and fortifying the spirit are the prime drivers of autumn breaks, then very few locations can match up to autumn breaks in Scotland.

Autumn is a truly special time to enjoy Scotland and the great variety of . . . → Read More: Autumn breaks in Scotland, a great way to end the year

How many people here are from cities in England and Scotland? Just say hi and where you live.?

Question by kitarian: How many people here are from cities in England and Scotland? Just say hi and where you live.?
I’ve never been there but I find your countries wonderful in history and culture. I wanted to get away from war for a little while and share information about our cultures. I’m 15, I live in Ferguson, North Carolina,USA I have a pony and three cats and a sheep dog. I have two sisters One older, one younger. We found out we had cousins from the highlands of Scotland and in England.

Now, what ever you’d like to share. This would be like getting to know the people of the earth in a kind way.
I got carried away. I normally LIKE people and don’t judge them until I hear them talk or see them act. I like to have friends from all over the English, Scotlish, Australian and more. Sorry.
No war here, okay, just friends asking information about their different cultures.

What was the difference between the lowlands & highlands of medieval Scotland?

Question by wendy08010: What was the difference between the lowlands & highlands of medieval Scotland?
I’m an avid reader of historical romance novels, and I have been reading a quite few that take place in medieval Scotland. I’m wondering why the hero in those romances is always a highlander. At best, a lowlander could be the hero’s best friend, or an inconsequential side character, but never the hero. At worse, a lowlander is the evil villin of the story or a rival for the heroin’s affection who never stands a chance because the hero is always a highlander. Is there some story that I missed when taking a class on medieval history that would explain this?

I realize this may be an odd place to ask this question, but I couldn’t think of another section that would know any better than you all.
